Safe Dividend Stocks (by Our Methodology)

Stocks screened for dividend-sustainability signals under our published methodology.

On this site, “safe” refers to Dividendly's dividend-sustainability methodology — a screen for payouts that look durable on the evidence we track — and is not a guarantee of future distributions or investment performance. No dividend is guaranteed; boards can cut or suspend at any time.

The screen favors what has historically preceded continued payment: earnings that comfortably cover the dividend, a payout in the moderate range rather than the extreme, and a yield that is attractive without being priced like a distress signal.

Methodology

U.S.-listed common stocks with a DividendRank of 60 or higher, an EPS payout ratio between 0% and 80%, and a current yield between 1.5% and 8% — the band where high payouts have historically been most persistent. Ordered by DividendRank. The S.A.F.E. read on each ticker page (Solid, Accelerating, Flawless, Enduring) applies the same philosophy per security.

What to Keep in Mind

“Safe” here is a research classification, not advice or a promise. A screen built on trailing data cannot see next quarter's surprise; treat this list as a starting point for research on each name's page, never as a conclusion.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a dividend stock “safe”?

Nothing makes it certain. This list uses Dividendly's sustainability methodology — covered payouts, moderate ratios, non-extreme yields, and a strong overall rank — to identify payouts that look durable on trailing evidence. It is a research screen, not a guarantee.

Can a “safe” dividend still be cut?

Yes. Boards set dividends and can change them at any time; screens built on historical data cannot foresee every deterioration. That is why every name links to its full history and coverage figures.
