Privacy Policy

Dividendly (dividendly.ai) is a dividend-stock research site operated by MCP Labs LLC ("we", "us"). This page explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it. You can browse the site without giving us your name or email address.

What we collect and why

Email address — favorites, saved portfolios and alerts

We ask for your email address only if you use one of these features:

Favorites — we store your email address with the tickers you star, so your favorites appear when you return to the site or use another device.
Saved portfolios — the income calculator stores each portfolio you save (its name and the tickers and share counts in it) under your email address.
Email alerts — when you sign up for an alert, we store your email address, the alert type and the sign-up date. Alert emails are not being sent at present. Before we send any alerts, we will email you once to ask you to confirm the sign-up, and no alerts will be sent to an address that has not been confirmed.

Favorites and saved portfolios use your email address as their only key: there is no password, so anyone who enters the same address can see the favorites and portfolios saved under it. We do not use your email address for marketing, do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes, and do not sell it.

Contact form

When you use the contact form, your name, email address, subject and message are sent by email, through Google's Gmail service, to the inbox Dividendly uses for site messages, so that we can reply. Messages are not stored in the site's database.

Error reports

When you report a data error through our error-report form, we store what you enter (the security, the figure concerned, the value you believe is correct, any source link and details, and your name and email address if you choose to give them) in our database and send a copy, through Google's Gmail service, to our site inbox. We use your name and email address only to reply about the report. We do not store your IP address or any other identifier with the report. Your name and email address are deleted from the report 12 months after it is received; the rest of the report is kept as a record of the correction process.

Request log

For security, and to tell automated traffic (bots and crawlers) apart from people, our server keeps a log of each request it receives: the time, your IP address, the page or file requested (including any query string), the response status, your browser's user-agent string and the referring page. The log files rotate automatically by size, which at current traffic keeps roughly the last two weeks of requests; older entries are overwritten. The log is not sold or shared.

Locally stored data

Your theme and view preferences, a copy of your favorite tickers, and the email address you entered for favorites or saved portfolios are stored in your browser (localStorage). This data stays on your device; your email address and favorites are sent to our server only when you use the favorites or saved-portfolio features.

Analytics — Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web-analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as your IP address (which Google may anonymize), device and browser type, pages visited, time on page, and referring source. We also pass Google Analytics a coarse label, derived from your browser's user-agent string, that marks traffic from self-declared automated tools so it can be filtered out of our reports. This information is aggregated and used for statistical analysis; we do not use it to identify individual visitors.

The data collected is transmitted to and stored by Google. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Advertising — Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can control personalized advertising through Google Ad Settings and learn more at How Google uses cookies in advertising.

Fonts, scripts and images from other servers

Some files are loaded by your browser directly from other companies' servers: fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com) on every page, the Chart.js charting library from the jsDelivr content delivery network (cdn.jsdelivr.net) on pages with charts, and company logos from Financial Modeling Prep's image server (images.financialmodelingprep.com). When your browser fetches these files, those providers receive your IP address and standard browser information, as with any web request, and their own privacy policies apply.

Cookies

Dividendly sets one cookie of its own: lang, which remembers the language you choose. It is set only when you choose a language and lasts one year. Theme, view and favorites preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage rather than in cookies. The third-party services described above — Google Analytics and Google AdSense — set their own cookies and similar technologies on your device for analytics and advertising purposes. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings, and you can use the opt-out tools linked above. If we add or change the services we use, this policy will be updated first.

Third-party data providers

Market, dividend, and fundamental data is supplied to us by financial-data providers (Financial Modeling Prep and Tiingo). We do not send them your personal information. Company logos are loaded from Financial Modeling Prep's image server, as described above.

How long we keep your data

Email addresses linked to favorites, saved portfolios or alert sign-ups are retained until you ask us to delete them. Request-log entries are overwritten after about two weeks. Names and email addresses given with error reports are deleted 12 months after the report is received. You may request removal of your email address and associated data at any time through our contact form (see below).

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information we hold about you. To do so, email info@madisonlabs.ai or use our contact form (subject “Other”, mentioning “Privacy request”), and include the email address the request concerns. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

Dividendly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
