Monthly Dividend ETFs

Exchange-traded funds that pay distributions every month.

Most equity ETFs distribute quarterly, but a large minority — especially bond, covered-call and multi-asset income funds — pays monthly, matching the cadence of the income their holdings throw off.

For an ETF the monthly figure is a distribution rather than a corporate dividend: it can blend dividends, interest, option premium and sometimes return of capital, and it commonly varies month to month.

Methodology

ETFs in our coverage whose recent distributions run on a monthly schedule, ordered by distribution yield (latest regular distribution annualized against the latest price).

What to Keep in Mind

Distribution yield is not earnings yield: funds that write options or use leverage can sustain high distributions while NAV erodes. Corporate payout ratios do not apply to ETFs; judge a fund on its distribution history and what the distribution is made of.

Frequently asked questions

Which ETFs pay monthly dividends?

Mostly bond funds, covered-call equity funds and multi-asset income funds — structures whose underlying cash flows arrive monthly. The table above is the live monthly-paying set in our coverage.

Why do ETF distributions change every month?

Because they pass through whatever the holdings generated — dividends, interest, option premium — rather than a board-declared fixed amount. Variation is normal, not necessarily a cut.
